OBJECTIVES OF THE SYMPOSIUM

The symposium mainly aims to:

  • Reviewing the most important features of Africa-Arab cooperation in the fields of education, learning, training and scientific research, past and present.

  • Highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of this cooperation so far.

  • Exploring the future prospects of Africa-Arab cooperation in the fields of education, learning, training and scientific research in light of the needs of the African and Arab sides and the available capabilities.

  • Drafting pertinent recommendations to be submitted to the African Union, the League of Arab States, and to the relevant organisations and bodies to help develop cooperation in a way that address current challenges and achieves common ambitions.

THE THEMATIC OF THE SYMPOSIUM

  • Africa-Arab cooperation in Education, Learning, Training, and Scientific Research until the end of the colonial period in the middle of the twentieth century.

  • Africa-Arab cooperation in these areas since independence:

    1. Bilateral cooperation between Africans and Arabs in these fields: case studies and specific models.

    2. Multilateral cooperation within the framework of the African Union, the League of Arab States, and others: case studies and specific models.

  • The strengths and weaknesses of Africa-Arab cooperation in these areas at the present time.

  • The role of the private sectors in developing Africa-Arab cooperation in these fields: case studies and models (universities, higher institutes, training centres, research centres, etc.).

  • How do Africans and Arabs advance cooperation in the fields of education, learning, training and scientific research?

  • Plans and recommendations to develop Africa-Arab cooperation in these areas.
